About Us
We are a small but mighty team of 15 housekeepers. As a team, we have worked on over 25 properties in the Yancey Mitchell area. We are all local, spread out between Bakersville, Spruce Pine, Burnsville, and Asheville. Working together makes us stronger than working separately because it allows for life's disturbances to an individual housekeeper without having any affect on our clients. Each housekeeper has their own strengths but we all share an attention to detail and a conscientious way of working that our clients appreciate. Our morals are deeply engrained in our religion and that guides our work ethic. With each cleaning, we endeavor to deepen the trust and confidence of our clients in our abilities.
One of the strengths of working with this size company is that we are small enough to give individual attention to and care about each of our properties. It's not just another job or another cleaning to us. We treat your home as if it were our own in that we take pride in our work and care very much about keeping your property in good condition. Another benefit of working with this size team is that although there are several housekeepers, all of our clients have a single point of contact- Amber (Owner). This allows us to adjust as needed to schedules, but also allows you as the client to communicate with one person and know that: not only does the individual housekeeper know whatever information you are trying to communicate, but there is also a backup person who checks on the property who knows the nuances of your home. Its like a safety net that protects us all.
Many of our housekeepers are husband and wife teams or sisters or mother and daughter teams. That makes for efficient cleaning of your property and gives you a maturity and wisdom that ultimately means that you are getting top notch work. We can't pretend like we are perfect. Undoubtedly there will be a mistake at some time or another, but we strive to avoid issues and are open to feedback and improvement. You are the customer and we work for you so we will do whatever is reasonable and in our power to make our customer's happy.
Amber and Chris

Amber and Chris have been married for 20 years. Partners in Grime was started in 2017 when an opportunity presented itself and they have been steadily growing the company ever since. As a couple they compliment each others strenghths and weeknesses. Both of them hate posting pictures of themselves but hopes it helps you get to know them. They have worked together for 5 years now and would not have it any other way.
Amber Mathis
Amber is an increadibly hard worker who is never intimidated by a job. She has more than 15 years of cleaning experience but perhaps even more important is her 20 years of business experience. When you have a good business person at the helm, it really doesn't matter what kind of business they run- they will do it successfully and professionally. Amber also does medical coding and billing as well as personal assistant work. She decided to run this cleaning business- not out of necessity- but out of choice. She could do many different things but has decided to focus on the businesses of Western North Carolina and Tennesse and keeping them clean and presentable to their guests. Her attention to detail and her work ethic make her an irriplacable part of your team.
Chis Mathis
Chris is so multifacited. He works with Amber and can clean with the best of the ladies. He also has a background in pest control and has a true passion for gardening. He can be found at the farmers markets on some weekends selling the produce he has painstakingly grown and you might even find him talking to his plants if you sneak up on him. Chris has decided to branch into pool and spa cleaning as a seperate service since there has proven to be a large need for that related to the airbnb cleaning business. He builds furniture and is very handy so his skills pair well with Ambers business sense and cleaning business to form a great Airbnb co-host team who has the skills to take care of so much of the property work that can come up unexpectedly.
